EPW - Rolex, Cal. 550 mvt marked "Observatory Quality Class A. Certificate," "Chronometer Controlee Officiellement" marked dial, 52mm, "Snowite" rhodium-plated OF original case marked "Guaranteed to stay Blue White," train engraving to rear, white enamel DS impressed dial with 13 to 24 hour indications at perimeter, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, 21J marked as "Twenty One 21 Rubies," wheel satin nickel finish, s#663. A rare top grade watch, currently in need of some restoration but very much deserving of the effort.
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, likely broken mainspring, smaller winding wheel missing seven total teeth distributed in four areas, balance will tick if pressure is added at center wheel, crown tends to lift into setting position when winding unless downward pressure is maintained as crown is turned, overhaul needed, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some spotting to plate surfaces, some oxide to steelwork, finish loss to pallet bridge; dial with edge chip and small adjacent fracture at 7:30; excellent hands, oxide to center hub of minute; case shows light wear, profuse fine to micro-fine scratches to rear, some small nicks to band, engraving detail with mild reduction, some small bits of finish loss to band; bow pivots freely, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with edge chip at bottom.
